Youth Membership in 4-H
When you join 4-H, a whole world of exciting ideas and fun projects opens up for you to get involved and have a good time. There are so many different clubs and activities to choose from. What a great way to make new friends, learn lots of cool stuff, and help others.
If you are interested in finding out more about 4-H in your area, contact the cooperative extension office in your county.
Membership Rules
4-H membership is open to all youth between the ages of 8 and 19 without regard to ancestry, color, disability or handicap, national origin, race, religious creed, sex, sexual orientation, or place of residence
To be considered a member, a youth must enroll in one or more 4-H projects and have the enrollment recorded (enrollment takes effect when the enrollment sheet or record card is received in the county extension office).
4-H Age
Youth must be at least eight years old by January 1 of the current year and not be nineteen years of age by January 1, to participate in club, county, regional, state, or national 4-H events and activities.
Diversity
4-H is a program that can benefit all youth. Involving youth of varied races and cultures, youth with disabilities, and youth that have not traditionally been in the 4-H program benefits everyone by creating a broader understanding of all people and diverse experiences for all members and leaders.
